Fabric Manipulation

This fabric is coming across as more of a summer fabric at the moment probably because of the lightweight drapyness and bright cheerful colours but it doesn't actually have much warmth so it is going to need to be over or incorperated in with something much warmer eg a merino knit.. possible a pink merino knit...

... ta dah! pink merino double knit. i also thought that this fabric looked interesting when held up to the light as it appears quite see though but when it is held agaisnt the body you dont see the delicateness of the weave, so i though i would pull some of the threads out and create a looser weave still amd am really pleased with the result. went for a slightly random pattern to give it a little bit of interesting detail.

And when it is placed on top of the pink merino it highlights the weave pattern and shows the pink through...

Drapeing the two together.

I've combined some of the previous concepts for this fabric using the basic almost rectangle shape and have domes attached on a tape to give the freedom of A. being able to get into it as it is a loose weave but doesn't stretch, and B. also giving a little bit of flexibility in terms of how to wear it.
Eg the domes have been place on opposite sides of the front and back as well as opposite sides left to right so that you can have the option of have the snaps together in a halter neck style. Or have the lower snap section over the arm or under the arm. different style different day

Developments of sharp jacket

I think the idea of this jacket was better than the actual look of these two fabrics together. the shape is really interesting and draws the eye from the shoulders down the body making it seem quite long but it would possibly work better with a less contrasting fabric.

PVC Coated Cotton

This is a gorgeous Amy Butler designer fabric in a PVC coated cotton which i imagined would be good in my collection as it is showerproof but also lightweight enough to be flexible and have a bit of movement and swing to it. Therefore  i can visualise this funky fabric in something modern like a little cape jacket...?

Test drapes to see how it hangs..

With a hood or a collar maybe?..

Using the reverse of the fabric as a contrast. it has a cotton texture obviously so it contrasts well in terms of the matte textured look compared with the smooth shiny gloss of the PVC side.

Other garments? Skirt? I think not. Not enough space for it too fall but too much fullness would make the model look really bulky.

Few more initial Ideas

I do like these following jacket designs. there are two different versions of the same idea basically, one with rounded curves and the other with sharp corners. both work in creating different attitudes...

Here is a small idea of a textured type piece with either cutouts of a organza of chiffon or maybe layering cut out shapes and stitching them on to create an interesting 3D type texture...

Jacket with Strips

Using a slightly brushed Cotton type black fabric these jackets have stripes that have been turned through as a back across the jacket. Half the strips have the brushed side of the fabric out and the other half use the reverse of the fabric which is a slightly more shiny side giving and interesting contrast between the strap.

This first jacket has the front looking like a normal jacket and the back consists of just the straps across the back so whatever is being worn underneath the jacket can be seen from the outside. So possibly a nice decorative floral fabric or something similar could be nice underneath...
This next jacket has the straps pulling a larger looser part of the jacket back in with a skewif type of gather being created and the straps have been continued onto the front where they would be just stitched down.
